By Goddess Sasha, The Hockey Goddesses
December 4, 2015
Well, here I am in windy Grand Forks for a weekend of hockey at the University of North Dakota’s renowned Ralph Engelstad Arena. I don’t know if it’s always this windy but with the wind it’s just about how you’d imagine North Dakota in December: Cold!
The town reminds me a lot of some of the small hockey towns in the Prairie Provinces of Canada. Everyone here — and I mean everyone — cheers for the UND hockey team, the Fighting Hawks, and they are excited we are here to watch a couple of games in their magnificent arena as the team hosts the University of Denver Pioneers
This morning I had a great chat with the Marketing Manager of REA, Garth Wiedrich, and got a tour of the arena for our first story in our new series: “Very Important Places,” which will feature hockey arenas around the world that we feel are “must visit” or at the very least, “must know” venues. The history of the building is quite interesting and I’m looking forward to experiencing the UND game atmosphere, which is as famed as the building itself.
Stay tuned for more photos and reports as this goddess navigates Grand Forks and the UND Hockey experience.Tags: North Dakota Fighting Hawks, Ralph Engelstad Arena, REA, University of Denver hockey, University of North Dakota, Very Important Places
